so the mural was at a stand-still for a long time. and it came down to a big crunch in the final week- but it's finally finished!
instillation was a nightmare. we had thought the wall would be a light layer of plaster backed by brick. turns out it was two inches of plaster backed by brick. so our screws couldn't grip anything and the drill was having a really hard time getting through the brick... it turned out to be a 5 hour process that involved 4 men plus dana and i. it also ended up weighting at LEAST 200 lbs which is why 6 people were required just to lift it. but it's finally in place. thank god my dad were there or we might still be standing there, pondering the plaster/brick situation.i'm including 2 pics of the mural, day and night views from inside independents hall. the workers and alex, the owner, all love it. and the public is already starting to ask for prints in the form of posters and tshirts so i'd say that's a major success!
